Even though embarking on their maiden European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.
Another three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS ought to be sufficient to secure direct passage to the last 16, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Moment
This match provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
