Large-scale Moscow's Strikes Cut Power In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Several individuals were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to water supplies, according to city officials.

Meanwhile, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, according to local officials.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such attacks as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by local officials.

Regional authorities said the city experienced intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child died and three other people were injured.

The strikes succeed periods of bombing campaigns in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The whole nation is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

Authorities told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the country's energy grid, with assaults already impacting fuel infrastructure.

He said utility staff and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
