Grief as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old media personality was confronted by three suspects, one of whom shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The reason of the attack remains unclear and no one has been arrested are in custody, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Police said that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a location close to the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the site supervising the installation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," an official report said.
Surveillance tape reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what resembled a security uniform opening fire on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the assault.
Key evidence, like spent shells, were discovered at the scene.

Authorities have requested members of the public who may have have information to contact them.
"We know they covered significant ground after the attack, and police have been attempting to locate them to find their whereabouts," stated a police chief.
A Nation in Mourning
His family member, a close relative, expressed the loved ones are reeling to process his death.
"I am devastated. I cannot express the pain," were her words.
"It is clear he was a representative for countless citizens. He was a fearless commentator about subjects not many people were prepared to discuss. This is a devastating blow."
She urged the public to not sharing graphic images from the scene, noting this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's three sons.
His Professional Legacy
Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that was broadcast on a South African digital satellite entertainment channel.
Apart from his media career, Stock was active in various commercial activities, including protective services, providing VIP protection services and managing safety for high-profile events across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in property management and assisted with property reclaimations.

His murder has sent the nation reeling and led to an flood of condolences from his fans, the authorities and various organizations.
A government minister remarked he was angry and saddened by Stock's untimely death.
"He was forthright boldly and honestly. He even criticized me and my policies as a minister. He was a shining model of who we must aspire to be," the minister added.
A political leader said the "shocking killing of DJ Warras in broad daylight is a tragedy for all South Africans".
A broadcasting director expressed that "DJ Warras was not merely a TV personality. He was a skilled narrator, a passionate music lover and a kind-hearted individual who brought happiness and vitality to every moment on screen. His dedication to creativity left an indefinable mark."
In a release, the channel he worked for affirmed Stock was known for his presence, warmth and intelligent commentary, adding that his influence "will be remembered".
